Education

Dzodze-Penyi Secondary School

Dzodze-Penyi Secondary School was established in 1963 as a teacher training institution. The first principal was Mr. S.S. Dogbe. It was changed into a secondary school in 1972. The current headmaster of the school is Mr. Ebenezer Atieku and he is assisted by Mr. Godwin Kaledzi.
The school has 44 permanent teachers, 1 service personnel, 1 Peace-Corp volunteer from USA and 35 non-teaching staff. The programs run by the school includes

  • General Arts
  • General Science
  • Agricultural Science
  • Visual Arts
  • Home Economics and
  • Business

The school has the following facilities: Science Resource Centre, Computer Laboratory, Visual Arts Workshop, Boarding facility, a standard playing field. The school has a population of 970 students; 560 boys and 410 girls.
The following are the on going projects in the school:

  1. PTA sponsored 14 unit classroom block
  2. Dining/Assembly hall complex sponsored by GetFund
  3. Walling of the school sponsored by the old students of the school
  4. Refurbishment of the library and setting up internet services.

Achievements

  1. For the past three years has been performing brilliantly in the S.S.S.C.E.
  2. District champions in debate for 7 years running
  3. Police cadet corps
  4. Best regional Science teacher in 1999, Mr. Augustine Amedeker
  5. Best regional General Arts teacher in 2001, Mr. Godwin Kaledzi
  6. Farmers day award for forestry division in 1998 i.e. the best school with tree planting programm

Problems

  1. Inadequate boarding facilities
  2. No permanent Administration block
  3. No permanent staff common room
  4. No telephone facilities
  5. Inadequate classroom blocks
  6. Inadequate staff accommodation
  7. Transportation problems (No vehicle)
